Nathaniel and Armenia White, a wealthy, prominent couple, owned a 100-acre farm on Clinton Street and a big brick house was torn down to make way for the State House Annex. Slaves arrived on foot or horseback and were sheltered in the haymow. The Whites were members of the Anti-Slavery Society from its inception. Note: Photo needed | ||||
